Flying high with Air France

Air France is launching a luxurious new cabin experience on its flights – but only for a chosen few. Beirut has been  selected as one of only 18 destinations worldwide to experience the airline’s “Best & Beyond” cabins, found onboard select Boeing 777 aircrafts.

From September 1 – 10, the French airline is holding an exhibition at Le Gray Beirut to give visitors a sneak peak into the experience, where they will be able to  view the actual cabins, climb into them, and experience the comfort first hand.

These redesigned cabins are also on flights to major destinations in the USA, Brazil, and Japan, so you might be surprised to find tiny Lebanon on the exclusive list.  While Lebanon may be a small market, it’s evidently a special one.  Regional Manager Frederic Babu says that “The Lebanese travel a lot so they can compare. It’s a small but a very valuable market with high demand customers,” he says, adding, “We think this new product will fit with our Lebanese customers’ expectations.”

The cabins offer comfort and relaxation at every class, and can be enjoyed between Beirut and Paris once a day, every day, starting September 14.

The first class “La Premiere” designer suit is veiled in a thick curtain that lets passengers control how much privacy they want. The seats turn into fully-flat beds, which can be covered in a mattress for the utmost sleeping experience. Passengers will  also be given  a large pillow, a Sofitel MyBed® duvet, a selection of deluxe amenities, delicious meals on board and a dedicated lounge at the airport in Paris.

Business class is described as a cocoon in the sky, where seats with soft foam adapt to suit your shape, and allow for great comfort. When your head hits the pillow, it’ll be a down feather pillow, and you can wrap up in a soft duvet.

Economy class

Air France also enhanced its economy class cabins, now offering a new seat design with more legroom, comfortable cushions, softer headrests and multi-position footrests, as well as a larger tray table, bigger screen, and convenient extras like electrical sockets and headphone holders.
